CMO attends Regional Health Security Meeting in Trinidad

Saint Lucia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sharon Belmar-George, is currently attending a High-Level Meeting at the Hilton Trinidad Hotel and Conference Centre. The Regional Health Security Ceremony Pathway Planning Meeting is being hosted by the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and brings together Chief Medical Officers, Public Health Agencies, International Development Partners, CARICOM and other regional entities.  The meeting runs from August 8 to 9.
Over the next two days, participants will be discussing the development of a detailed mapping of how the wide scope of regional coordination, laboratory, early warning and response surveillance systems, and workforce development would be conducted and coordinated to achieve the desired objectives at the regional and CARPHA Member State level.
Speakers include: Dr. Joy St. John, Executive Director, CARPHA, Dr. Richard Garfield, Global Health Security and Emergency Response and Recovery Branch, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and The Honourable Dr. Terrance Deyalsingh, Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister for Health.
This Meeting builds on the Stakeholder Consultations on Regional Health Security (RHS) – The Way Forward, which took place in July 2022.
