Police Marine Unit Assistance

On Monday May 15, 2023 about 5:18 p.m. the Police Marine Unit departed Saint Lucia to assist in repatriating seven (7) Saint Lucian nationals from neighboring Martinque. Eight (8) persons which included one (1) French national were rescued by the French Coast Guard and a local French catamaran, after the vessel they were travelling in over turned. The vessel was on its way back to Saint Lucia from Martinque when it encountered engine trouble and rough seas.

The Police Marine Unit arrived in Martinque about 7: 45 p.m. The seven (7) Saint Lucian nationals were all processed and released from a medical facility in good health and embarked the Police Marine vessel. the French national remained in Martinque

The Police Marine Unit vessel returned to Saint Lucia about 12: 30 a.m. on Tuesday May 16, 2023. The Seven (7) Saint Lucian nationals repatriated were then released into the care of family members.
