Update on the Re-opening of Schools

The Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training has over the past months, been monitoring the Covid-19 situation nationally and the steady decline in active and positive cases has been noted. If this trend continues, the intention is to commence a phased reopening of schools at key grade levels. This intervention will target the students in Kindergarten, Grade Six (6) and Forms Four (4) and Five (5).

As we continue to monitor the local situation, we ask parents and guardians of children in the identified classes to stand prepared to have these students attend school in a face-to-face setting. If the declining trend continues, the Ministry will announce a date for this return to the physical classroom.

We are committed to safeguarding the health and safety of all students, teachers and staff. In so doing, we will ensure that the protocols delineated in the Education Continuity Plan are maintained. We urge parents, guardians, students and the wider community to continue observing the prescribed health protocols as compliance will ensure that our students are not further disadvantaged.
